2025 - Danny McCausland

One of the great benefits of knowing somebody over a long period of time is seeing their progression and growth. I first met Danny McCausland when he interviewed for a tech position at GEI. He was recommended by GEI’s equipment repair specialist whose daughter was dating this guy who wanted to get into the field. Danny’s kindness and helpfulness shone through in his interview, and he was immediately hired.

Danny is a quick learner, and he moved up the lab ranks at a rapid speed. Danny was always the first to offer help to coworkers when they needed it. He was incredibly observant, catching problems and mistakes before they became an issue. He thoughtfully approached challenges and had excellent data analysis skills, all of which led us to move Danny into a management position.

As the Lab Supervisor at GEI, Danny led with kindness and compassion. He was constantly in the fray helping his staff and keeping everything going. He presented an excellent poster at the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry’s annual conference. Danny made a positive impact on the people he worked with, and it was a huge loss to GEI when Danny decided to move on to a new water-related industry by taking a position at Metro Water Recovery.

Learning and growth are a big part of Danny’s character. He learned so much in Metro’s lab before moving into an Industrial Pretreatment position at Metro where he inspected industries to protect Metro’s plant. While at Metro, Danny took on the volunteer position of Vice President in the RMWQAA. He has consistently coordinated the vendors for the annual symposium and supports the board in all their various endeavors.

While Danny’s path led him back to the lab in the City of Thornton, one thing remained consistent, his thoughtfulness, caring nature, and kindness. He continues to excel in his work, developing the City of Thornton’s PFAS method. He continues to remain active in the RMWQAA community even with two young kids. It is with great pride that I nominate Danny McCausland for the 2025 RMWQAA Analyst of the Year Award.
