Lab Analyst Exchange Program?

I'm gauging the interest level from local labs to participate in an Analyst Exchange Program.  Basic idea is to trade analysts between labs for a week.  By working in a new lab, analysts get to learn new, different analytical methods, ways to collect/process samples, watershed characteristics and challenges, LIMS systems, customer service tips, lab instruments, treatment technologies, and networking opportunities to meet new staff and management.  Ideally, trades are two-way exchanges, but one-way exchanges are definitely possible.  I still have to work out finer details like HR and liability issues, but I wanted see if there's enough support in the lab community to get this idea flying.  Please help me spread the word and get back with me if you're interested as an analyst or lab supervisor.

The RMWEA Lab Practices Committee is working on a plan to help facilitate something like this.  We are creating a database of local labs that are willing to participate or offer advice or mentoring/shadowing and their capabilities or focus.  Compiling this info should be a valuable resource and productive first step towards creating a network to foster shadowing and collaborative opportunities.  Stay tuned!
